Environment Canada is warning drivers headed past Squamish to watch out for snow while rain falls in Vancouver.

Up to 25 cm is expected to fall by this evening, according to the government agency, on the highway up to Whistler.

While snowfall will taper off this evening, a new system will arrive Monday morning, bringing 15 cm.

"A moist pacific front is producing heavy snow over Whistler and the Sea to Sky highway north of Squamish," states Environment Canada on its website.

Meanwhile, in Vancouver all that precipitation will fall as rain, with 20 mm falling today, another 5 mm overnight and then 10 mm more tomorrow. Rain or periods of rain is expected to continue throughout the rest of the week.
