Even would-be gangsters have to display their N in Burnaby if they’re new drivers.

That’s a lesson a pair of teens learned last week.

On Sept. 20 at about 6 p.m., police officers recognized the youths driving in the Big Bend area near Market Crossing and Marine Way, according to the Burnaby RCMP.

Police believe the pair are involved in gang activity.

Checks revealed the driver had only a class 7 license but no N displayed on his vehicle, so the officers pulled him over.

A can of bear spray and two knives – one OTF (out the front) switchblade and another emblazoned with skulls – were found in plain view, according to police.

The weapons were seized and the driver ticketed for not displaying his N.

The young driver already had “numerous” driving violation tickets to his credit, according to police.

“If he continues to violate the rules of the road, he could potentially lose his license,” Burnaby RCMP Cpl. Mike Kalanj said.
