This Earth Day, some of Vancouver’s most innovative minds will come together to find ways to make a genuine impact on the city’s environmental issues.
Vancouver’s top brands, creative thinkers, and disruptors will go head-to-head to come up with a solution to reducing waste in the city at the first-ever Brand Battle for Good hosted by the Brands for Better Foundation.
The two-part event kicks off on April 22 at Rocky Mountaineer Station with a day-long strategy-driven battle to innovate on solutions to reduce pollution. And you could be a part of it too, the not-for-profit foundation is calling on additional thinkers, either individuals or corporate organizations to get involved and join the battle.
“Vancouver is on a mission to be the world's greenest city, and with the recent ban of many single-use items, we are off to a great start. But the truth is, we still produce too much waste,” Karla Peckett, Founder of Brands for Better Foundation, said.
“The Brand Battle for Good will channel the creative energy of 25 teams to address the same problem that impacts Vancouverites.”
The top five ideas from the battle will then move on to Pitch Day, on June 11, where teams will have to present their concepts to judges at the Vogue Theatre. The winning team takes home a trophy and bragging rights—but also an advertising takeover to amplify local awareness around their concept, in Vancouver is Awesome and other publications.
The winning concept will be implemented to make real difference in the community, and later measured for success.
“Vancouver is home to globally recognized brands, many of which do exceptional work for various social and environmental causes," Peckett said.
“Brands For Better aims to unlock this potential by bringing all of us together to do good.
“Individually we are strong, but together, we can be a force.”
A number of well-known brands are already taking part in the event including SOLE, ReCORK, Digital Hot Sauce, O2E Brands and Unbounce, A&W, Native Shoes, Arc’teryx, Tentree, 1-800-Got Junk, Boom Goes the Drum, CreativeMornings, Cause + Affect, Noravera, HCMA, Launchpad Technologies, Ballantine Media, Etro Construction and Earth’s Own/Happy Planet Foods, among others.
