Unemployed because of the novel coronavirus?
A Vancouver photographer is offering free headshot sessions for people who are struggling to find work.
Simon Rochfort said the "Headshots That Help" initiative is in direct response to what the pandemic has done to the once-vibrant film industry in Vancouver., otherwise known as Hollywood North.
“B.C.’s film and TV productions, which employ more than 70,000 people – all but shut down in mid-March when 42 productions were halted as the pandemic took hold,” Rochfort elaborated.
On June 24, Phase 3 of the province’s pandemic response plan included the restart of the film industry.
“This glimmer of hope faded when on October 2," the industry was dealt another blow due to a shortage of COVID-19 tests, added Rochfort.
Now, he hopes free photo sessions for actors and other Vancouver entrepreneurs help them start off 2021 with restored confidence in their career.
"Regardless of how great your acting skills are if you don't have a headshot to use as your calling card, no one might ever know you exist," he said.
Each 15-minute session includes professional direction, custom lighting, and one retouched image for the client to use on social media.
The complimentary sessions will run every Tuesday from 1 to 5 p.m., ending on Dec. 8.
