East Vancouver park to get big upgrades, new features

The park currently has an old playground, wading pool, a basketball court, and a field.

A local park is getting revamped.

Collingwood Park in Vancouver's Renfrew-Collingwood neighbourhood currently has an old playground, wading pool, a basketball court, and open areas with a softball diamond and field.

Earlier this week on March 27, the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation approved plans to renew the park. The list of changes includes both upgrades and new amenities.

Collingwood Park visitors can expect a renovated playground, more picnic tables and benches, a small plaza, and a multi-sports court with an integrated skateboard feature. The wading pool will be replaced with a small splash pad.

The playground's current features will be updated to include a climber, swings, trampoline, carousel, and playhouse. The Park Board also plans to plant 25 new trees in the park.

Construction is set to begin this winter and finish in the fall in 2024.
