Vancouver saw its 12th, 13th, and 14th homicides this year occur all within the same hour, on the same day this week.

Wednesday saw Vancouver police respond to two unrelated incidents.

“Just after 7 p.m. officers were called to the Astoria Hotel where two people were found unresponsive in a room. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other died at the hospital,” explained VPD Cst. Tania Visintin.

Then, after multiple calls to 911 detailing that shots were fired near East 64 Avenue near Knight Street, police came on the scene just before 7:30 p.m.

“One victim was found dead in front of a house in the area,” Visintin said.

Both incidents are currently under investigation by VPD’s Major Crime Section, though authorities do not think they pose any risk to the public.

Anyone with information on any of the homicides is asked to contact VPD detectives at 604-717-2500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
