Vehicle smashes into Metro Vancouver restaurant

Restaurant staff did not wish to comment when contacted by the Richmond News, but said that the restaurant was open and they are still accepting takeout orders

One Richmond restaurant unexpectedly became a drive-through on Saturday, after a car smashed through its front door.

Photos posted on WeChat show a silver vehicle embedded in the front door and windows of Double Double Restaurant, located at 4600 No. 3 Road near Aberdeen Centre.

The images posted on the social media platform show smashed glass covering the hood of the car and restaurant floor, and the door forced out of its frame. 

The incident occurred around 12 p.m., according to posts on WeChat. 

Another photo shows emergency crews on scene. 

Restaurant staff did not wish to comment when contacted by the Richmond News, but said that the restaurant was open and they are still accepting takeout orders. 

It’s not known if anyone was injured. The cause of the crash remains unclear.

The News has reached out to Richmond RCMP and BC Emergency Health Services for more information.
