BC Place is well known as a multifunctional venue, but usually there's a bit of time between events to allow for setup in the huge stadium.
However, earlier this spring, a quick turnaround was needed after the Vancouver Whitecaps made it to the semifinals of the CONCACAF Champions Cup.
That was because legendary rock band AC/DC had a sold-out show booked for BC Place on April 22, 2025. The Vancouver leg of the soccer tournament was set for April 24, 2025.
That left BC Place less than 48 hours between the end of the AC/DC concert and the soccer game, which was scheduled for 7:30 p.m. (though the field needed to be ready prior to that).
In a video posted on social media, BC Place shared how they got the crowd out, the stage and lighting rigs down, and the field in place for the soccer game.
A few highlights include a dozen semi-trucks parked at field level to pack up the concert gear, two cranes at work to help bring down the rigging, and the soccer field being revealed panel by panel.
"An impossible task made possible through incredible cross-departmental collaboration at BC Place," reads the post.
