Vancouver police found several safety issues during a safety inspection on a limousine on August 21, 2021. The emergency exit was sealed shut, too.

Vancouver police found several safety issues during an inspection of a limousine over the weekend.

VPD Department Traffic Unit Sgt. Mark Christensen took to Twitter Saturday (Aug. 21) night to share an image of a white limousine that was hooked up to a tow truck.

The vehicle inspection revealed that there was no emergency brake, the emergency exit was sealed shut, and the fire extinguisher was discharged.

"This vehicle recently passed a commercial vehicle inspection…how is that possible! This industry needs to do better!" wrote Christensen.

VPD fine limo driver for driving with 10 passengers on a Class 1 license

In September 2020, Vancouver police fined a limousine driver for driving with a Class 1 learner's license, which requires a supervisor to be present.

At the time, Christensen said in a tweet that, prior to the pandemic, police were doing safety enforcement on limousines and party buses and were "shocked by the condition of some vehicles."

According to ICBC, a Class 4 (restricted) licence is required to drive taxis and limousines (up to 10 persons including the driver).
