VPD's marine unit helped the Vancouver Aquarium release five seals back into the wild on Sept. 16, 2022.

Just a few weeks after Timbit, an adorable harbour seal pup, was released back into the wild by the Vancouver Aquarium Marine Mammal Rescue Centre (MMR) rehabilitation team, five more seals were freed into B.C. waters.

Vancouver Police Department (VPD) marine unit was there to assist and say goodbye to the seals, along with Vancouver Aquarium staff.

The five seals were released off the shore of Bowen Island near Apodaca Provincial Park on Sept. 16.

"These seals were rescued when they were injured or abandoned pups and nursed back to health by the dedicated [MMR] staff and volunteers," shared the VPD Marine Unit in a tweet.

They also shared a few videos of the seals, including one who paused to look back before swimming off.
