Vancouver police are searching for a suspect following another downtown stranger attack.

According to Cst. Jason Doucette, the incident took place as a woman was "simply walking down the sidewalk when a man came up and sucker-punched her in the face for no reason.”

The 29-year-old victim was walking near Cambie and Pender streets around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday (Oct. 12) when a man approached and punched her in the face, knocking her to the ground. She suffered non-life-threatening physical injuries that required medical attention, says the Vancouver Police Department (VPD).

The suspect's face was partially covered with a bandana and he was wearing a black hoodie with a white stripe on the back, black pants, and black shoes. He was last seen running west on Dunsmuir Street.

“A number of people came to the victim’s aid and stayed with her until police arrived,” adds Doucette. “Our officers flooded the area to search for the suspect and locate evidence that will lead to his identity.”

Anyone with information or with dash-cam footage of the assault is asked to contact VPD detectives at 604-717-2541.
