After receiving an early dusting of snowfall on Tuesday, Sept. 17, Whistler Blackcomb received a whopping 16.1 cm of snow over the weekend.
The ski resort posted an image of the chairlift and surrounding trees at Pig Alley covered in a thick dusting of snowfall. It also remarked that it is, "time to get excited for winter" due to the fresh snow.

Of course, this doesn’t mean that alpine enthusiasts will be able to break out their respective snow gear anytime soon – the runs usually don’t open until sometime in November.
With that being said, drivers should ensure that they have proper winter tires on their vehicles for highways that are designated winter tire and chain routes, such as the Sea to Sky. The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure announced that winter tires and chains are required on most routes in B.C. effective Oct. 1. Passenger vehicles not equipped with winter tires are subject to a $121 fine.
