Smashing spree causes more than $50,000 in damage in Downtown Eastside

A suspect has been arrested.

A downtown bank had to board up its windows this week after someone smashed them.

The TD Bank at 109 W Hastings St near the intersection with Abbott Street had caution tape in front of it Monday, Sept. 12 after someone took a brick to its windows around 6:30 a.m.

"Vancouver Police were called for reports of a male suspect who had thrown a large cement brick at the TD Bank," says Const. Tania Visintin in an email to Vancouver Is Awesome.

Police estimate more than $50,000 in damage was done to the business.

"The 47-year-old suspect was arrested," adds Visintin. "Charges will be recommended to Crown."
