TORONTO — The Toronto Blue Jays have dealt pitcher Joel Payamps to the Kansas City Royals for cash considerations. Payamps posted a 2.70 ERA with 22 strikeouts in 30.0 innings this season.

VANCOUVER — The Vancouver Whitecaps say they will return to Canada for a week of training at the end of July. The club says in a statement that it will return to Vancouver, B.C., from the U.S. on July 25 and resume training two days later.

MONTREAL — The Montreal Canadiens have named Trevor Letowski as a new assistant coach. Letowski, 44, has been the head coach of the Ontario Hockey League's Windsor Spitfires since 2018, and previously worked with the Sarnia Sting.
