Did you know that during each Father's Day weekend in BC every single person in the province is granted a free license to go fishing in any of the tens of thousands of lakes that are here? It's true. Today is the last day of the 10th annual 2010 Family Fishing Weekend and if you manage to get a line in the water you can thank the BC Government for the good times.

Of course it's a gift but it's mostly done in order to get people interested in fishing, to teach folks the rules of fishing and to give them a look at what’s being done to preserve, enhance and create fish habitat. I personally try to take advantage of our freshwater lakes as often as I can in the summer and I use this weekend as a way to get in my first day of fishing for the year before I get my actual license!
