To launch the start of this year’s fresh blueberry season, the BC Blueberry Council is teaming up with the South Granville Business Improvement Association to celebrate all things blue – as in blueberries. Go Blue on South Granville is a 10-day event that will take place from July 18 - 28 within the restaurants, shops, boutiques and the historic Vancouver neighbourhood.

If you ever spent your summers rifling through shrubs looking for those perfect morsels of sweet blue goodness, you know that blueberries are definitely a thing worth celebrating. With that in mind, a number of South Granville’s restaurants will be featuring local blueberries in both savoury and sweet offerings, as well as cocktails and beverages.

For instance, Vij’s Rangoli will be serving a Savoury Chaat (whole wheat crisps with spicy potatoes, chickpeas) with blueberry chutney (vegan) and JamJar will be serving up a refreshing Blueberry + Artichoke Salad, Lamb Shank with Blueberry Jus and seasonal Blueberry Bread Pudding for dessert. There will also be a sweet blueberry hummus and blueberry sumac jam served on the side.

Ouisi Bistro will be hosting a Blues night on Friday July 19th from 7pm - 10pm cheekily called the Blueberry Jam. Ouisi will be featuring Cannery Row, a trio performing music evolved from the blues of memphis to Mississippi with their dinner special of a buttermilk marinated-cornmeal crusted catfish filet with blueberry-pink grapefruit salsa, red beans, green rice and cornbread. The music is free, but the special will be $18.50.

Granville Street itself (from 5th to 16th Ave), will be transformed with hues of blue as various retailers will be celebrating blueberries in their own way; with special promotions, sales, events and decor. You can also enter for a chance to win a blueberry inspired menu tasting during Go Blue on South Granville HERE.
