Burnaby Pride returns to Civic Square on Friday, July 26, 2025, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., inviting the community to gather for a free, family-friendly celebration of 2SLGBTQIA+ inclusion, visibility and connection. Now in its ninth year, Burnaby Pride continues to offer a welcoming space where all members of Burnaby’s diverse community can come together in support of equity and inclusion.

In 2024, Burnaby Pride welcomed more than 3,000 attendees, reflecting the festival’s continued role as a space for connection, inclusion and celebration. This year’s event builds on that momentum with a diverse lineup of performances, expanded community resources and a newly introduced 2SLGBTQIA+ vendor market, offering more ways for attendees to engage, learn and celebrate together.

“The community’s support for Burnaby Pride has never wavered, even through location changes, virtual events and the challenges of recent years,” says Athena, chair of Burnaby Pride. “This festival is more than a celebration, it’s a space where people can connect, access resources and see themselves reflected in the heart of Burnaby.”

On Saturday, July 26, from 3 to 7 p.m., enjoy free, family-friendly entertainment, community connection and inclusive programming at Burnaby Pride Festival in Civic Square.

Attendees can look forward to a lively mainstage with live music, comedy and dazzling drag performances, alongside an exciting lineup of 2SLGBTQIA+ artists, insightful speakers and engaging performers. The 2SLGBTQIA+ vendor market will showcase local artisans, makers and small businesses, while interactive community booths provide resources, support services and educational opportunities.

Delicious food trucks, accessibility services including ASL interpretation and visual descriptions and a dedicated Kids Zone with face painting, bubble fairy shows and games ensure there’s something for everyone.

Entertainment highlights include host and emcee Batty Banks, with performances by Peter Packer, Margaux Rita, Beardney Spears and more artists to be announced.

“Burnaby Pride has always been rooted in community,” says Athena, Chair of Burnaby Pride. “It’s not just about celebration, it’s about making space for connection, visibility and ensuring 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals know where to find support, while inviting the broader public to engage, learn and stand alongside us.”

In addition to the main festival on July 26, Burnaby Pride will host a series of inclusive events throughout the summer.

  • Bunny Yoga with Nigel Walker: Saturday, July 19 at 10 a.m., Brentwood Plaza.
In partnership with Lululemon, this outdoor yoga session features Nigel Walker and his farm animals. Participants are encouraged to bring a mat and join in a lighthearted workout celebrating Burnaby Pride. Booking required.
  • Intersex Progress Pride Flag Raising Ceremony: Monday, July 21 at 1 p.m., Burnaby City Hall. Join Burnaby Pride and Burnaby City Council in raising the Intersex Progress Pride flag to mark the start of Pride Week and recognize 2SLGBTQIA+ visibility.
  • Pride Plunge: Friday, Aug. 29, location to be shared upon registration. This private, all-bodies swim welcomes Two-Spirit, trans and gender-diverse individuals and their allies for a safe, inclusive and body-positive evening. Registration required.

Burnaby Pride acknowledges that the festival and events take place on the unceded and traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) and kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem) Peoples. Each Nation has distinct histories and distinct traditional territories that fully or partially encompass the city. This recognition is part of the ongoing work toward reconciliation and justice, which the Pride community is committed to supporting.
