The focus on green, renewable energy to promote a sustainable future will build many career opportunities here in B.C., which is a vision shared by the EJTC

Providing top training and apprenticeship opportunities, the training committee, which continuously seeks ways to show their appreciation for the trades workers of B.C., has found a new way to celebrate them — through an exhilarating bungee jump in Whistler.

In collaboration with Whistler Bungee, the EJTC wants to celebrate B.C.’s bold, adventurous, and thrill-seeking trades workers through a partnership with an outdoor adventure company that is similarly daring, courageous, and undeniably thrilling.

Whistler Bungee provides a wild rush for thrill-seekers of B.C. and beyond. With their jump platform situated 160 ft above the stunning glacial-fed Cheakamus River, Whistler Bungee is one of the most scenic bungee jump sites in the world, and without a doubt, an adrenaline-filled ride of a lifetime.

A common interest for many EJTC apprentices is their love for the great outdoors and thrill-seeking experiences, which is what makes the collaboration with Whistler Bungee a perfect fit. By encouraging EJTC apprentices to take a leap of faith and make the jump with Whistler Bungee, they can demonstrate what B.C.’s electrical trades are all about — boldly charting a path for a brighter future.

The Electrical Joint Training Committee’s vision is to offer B.C.’s finest trades training to support national standards and ensure a strong electrical industry within the province.

A leader in apprenticeship, training, and innovation, EJTC takes pride in the quality of their training programs, their management of over 800 apprentices, and their state of the art training facility.

EJTC’s electrical foundation program, Entry Level Trades Training (ELTT), provides a combination of foundational electrical theory and practical electrician training to prepare individuals for apprenticeships within the electrical construction industry. Training topics include electrical theory and code, lockout procedures, fall arrest and safety awareness, WHMIS certification, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, confined space awareness, Hilti shot certification, and ladder safety training.

The ELTT program provides students who finish the 15 weeks of technical training with 10 weeks of paid work experience. Upon successfully completing the course, program graduates will receive a certificate and credit for Level 1 technical training related to the Construction Electrician (Electrical) apprenticeship program with the opportunity for full-time apprenticeship placement by the EJTC.
