With everyone spending more time at home these days, home appliance sales are getting an extra boost.

Coast Appliances, Canada’s leading independent supplier of major household appliances with 17 showrooms across Canada including eight in British Columbia, has seen an uptick in sales since the COVID-19 pandemic.

And with the recent addition of LG products to its roster, Coast is providing consumers with even more choices for their home improvement plans.

“We’ve seen our business nearly triple since COVID-19. Now is the perfect time to fix things up,” says Gordon Howie, Coast Appliances President and CEO.

“Anything on the market that has to do with a home is doing well and we’re happy to help people out with their renovation projects.”

Established in 1958, LG products are known for matching high-quality and reliability with cutting-edge technology and innovative design. Recently rated as one of the top appliance brands by Consumer Reports, LG makes everything from kitchen appliances, to washers and dryers, to vacuums and air conditioners.

“LG is a great brand that has been in the appliance business for a very long time,” Howie says. “They offer great reliable products with a sleek and modern look. We’re excited to add it to our lineup and expand our offerings to customers, the more we add, the more we can tailor to each customer’s needs.”

LG machines are also a boon to condo-dwellers and anyone else who's ever tried to squeeze a new appliance into a tiny space: they have smaller, narrower machine options made just for those tight spaces, providing the same great quality in a reduced size.

“Most consumers want choice and LG really rounded out our offerings,” Howie says.

Canadian owned and operated, Coast offers competitive pricing, price match guarantees, extended warranties and flexible financing and payment options.

Not only does Coast carry a wide selection of products from over 50 brands to give consumers options, it provides the expertise to help people choose the right appliance for their needs. The retailer is also one of the few that sells high-end premium lines, such as La Cornue, Wolf and Sub-Zero.

An appliance is one of the largest purchases someone can make for their home. But the process of picking out the right one can be overwhelming.

“We don’t expect our customers to learn everything there is to know about home appliances. That’s our job,” Howie says.

“A lot of people think an appliance is a simple purchase but there’s a lot to it. There are a million things that go on with appliances, and we walk you through it all.”

Coast’s experts know home appliances inside out, so they act more like personal shopping consultants than salespeople. They spend the time to consult with customers and help match them with the right product. It ensures that customers are happy with their new appliance even after purchase.

“The service and knowledge of our sales associates really sets us apart from big box stores. At some of those places, their staff is selling nails one day and dryers the next. When you ask them a question, they read the information off the tag on the machine. Our people only sell appliances. Our average sales associate has about 10 years of experience, so our guys and gals really know the business,” Howie says.

“Our business is all about service. Why would you go to a big box when you can go to an independent and get great service? ”

To further serve its customers, Coast Appliances recently launched an e-commerce website for online sales that features a live-chat option for instant access to expert advice. Now customers can easily shop for appliances online and be directly connected to salespeople.

“A lot of people use the website for research and then they come to the store to see the appliance in person,” Howie says.

For those who do buy online, a sales associate will reach out by phone following purchase to arrange delivery and ensure customers are satisfied with their new appliances.

Customers who opt to shop in-person can rest assured that COVID-19 safety protocols are in place at all store locations, as well as during home delivery.
