‘Monsters of the Abyss,’ an upcoming exhibit at the Vancouver Aquarium, seeks to explore just that, delving into the mysterious, scaly, and secretive creatures that lurk beneath the surface and deem the deeps their home.
Available from Feb. 9 to Sept. 2, this limited-time exhibit offers unlimited fun for the whole family.
Exploring the unknown
‘Monsters of the Abyss’ invites guests to learn about the extinction-level events these aquatic predators faced and discover why these creatures, which hunted in and along our shores for centuries, were so universally feared.
With hands-on interactive elements, you can come face-to-face with prehistoric predators and their modern ‘monster’ counterparts still occupying our rivers, oceans, rivers and lakes today.

The uniquely epic journey through time is one of the best parts of the exhibit. It presents the opportunity to feast your eyes on supersize sculptures, like a spine-tingling Spinosaurus skeleton or the massive jaws of a Megalodon, and get hands-on during fossil exploration.
These fossils also make ideal props for Insta-worthy photo ops! After all, who doesn’t want a jaws-ome selfie surrounded by the teeth of a magnificent Megalodon?
Admire new, extraordinary live habitats and get up close and personal if you dare at daily expert-led Animal Talks exploring fun facts about these modern-day dinosaurs, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions. The exhibit will also feature the addition of new creatures lurking in the waters of the aquarium, from slithering snakes to monolithic monitors.

With over 65,000 amazing animals to admire, including rescued sea otters, sea lions, and seals, as well as other awesome aquatic species, the Vancouver Aquarium offers marvelous marine fun for the whole family.
