South Granville Summer

As part of the South Granville Summer series, the South Granville Business Improvement Association (SGBIA) is partnering with The Nooks, Got Craft?, and Portobello West to host a truly awesome outdoor street experience!

Dubbed Market, this craft pop-up series will be presented by different artisanal craft collectives on the corner of West 10th Ave. and West 11th Ave. at Granville Street on the Saturdays of July 24th, August 7th, and August 28th, 2021 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Inspired by the street markets of Europe, Market will be free and open to the public. Locals and visitors alike are invited to browse the curated collections of handcrafted pottery, illustrations, clothing, jewelry, and other goods in the center of Vancouver’s premiere lifestyle neighbourhood. Each market day will feature different selections that are sure to satisfy all tastes!

JULY 24: MARKET x THE NOOKS

The Nooks is a creative collective that showcases Canadian artists and entrepreneurs to sell their handmade items both in-store and online. They’re 100% Canadian and 100% handmade — 100% of the time.

AUGUST 7: MARKET x GOT CRAFT?

Got Craft? Is by makers, for makers! Over the past 12 years, the organization has supported over hundreds of makers and small businesses and has been proud to represent the handmade community by producing and partnering with various events — including MARKET. Join Got Craft? in support of 40 independent local makers and small shops.

AUGUST 28: MARKET x PORTOBELLO WEST

As Vancouver’s premiere shop local market, Portobello West will introduce Vancouver’s style-conscious shoppers to 25 of the city’s local artists and designers, featuring fashion, jewelry, art, home decor, skincare, gourmet treats, and more.

During ‘South Granville Summer’, Vancouverites can experience the neighbourhood in many new ways, from enjoying the free event programming to chilling out at the beautiful public plazas and parks all summer long.

  • Every Friday and Saturday, take a delicious taste tour of TGIFood Trucks (or Thank Granville It’s Food Trucks) on Fir and West 10th for a rotating selection of Vancouver’s top food trucks — and it’s a mere stone’s throw away from Market.
  • Enjoy a libation on one of the new temporary COVID Recovery patios as part of @patiovancouver.
  • From now until October 11, drinking is permitted at Plaza on 13th, Plaza on 14th, and Granville Park as part of the City of Vancouver’s pilot program. Bring drinks from home, purchase a bottle of wine with your take-out, or grab some singles from JAK’s to enjoy responsibly in the outdoors.
  • During Summer Sessions, listen to local musicians on Thursday nights at Plaza on 13th or 14th.
  • Attend Bend and Flow for free yoga classes on Sunday mornings at 10 a.m. at Plaza on 14th.
  • As part of the city-wide Vancouver Mural Fest in August, new murals will be added to the neighbourhood. Don’t miss out on the live painting activation right on the plaza on August 18 to 20!

While you’re in the neighbourhood, be sure to take a stroll and browse through South Granville’s international eateries, fashion boutiques, houseware stores, exclusive furniture stores, and other charming shops that cannot be found anywhere else in the city.
