The COVID-19 outbreak has brought regular life to a standstill. As we practice self-isolation and quarantine, basic errands and tasks that we normally handle in person have either been paused or shifted to comply with social distancing requirements.
One grey area that remains for B.C. residents is how to manage their auto insurance when many ICBC branches have closed to the public indefinitely.
To ensure that B.C. vehicle owners continue to have timely and convenient access to insurance services, insurance brokers have stepped up to conduct vehicle insurance renewals and other related ICBC services for customers from the comfort of their homes during this time of great need.
Now, auto-owners in the Lower Mainland can take advantage of Westland Insurance’s new offering: servicing ICBC autoplan transactions by email and phone to eliminate face-to-face interactions.
In addition to ICBC vehicle insurance renewals, Westland can help process a variety of auto policy changes remotely and virtually, such as:
New vehicle registrations
New license plates
Transfer of ownership
Temporary operating permits
Upon submitting a request through Westland’s online ICBC renewal form, an insurance advisor will connect with the customer to review their policy coverage inquiry, handle change requests, and arrange payment options.
Policy documents will be emailed and any required license plate decals will be mailed once the transaction is complete.
The continued collaboration between ICBC and insurance broker partners such as Westland Insurance in response to the Coronavirus crisis is an example of the importance of working together in times of emergency.
Sharing a top priority of ensuring the health and wellbeing of customers and employees, by enabling ICBC insurance needs to be met from anywhere, we can all continue to stay home and stay safe.
