If you're looking to fly from Vancouver to Europe on the cheap next summer, you might be out of luck.
While a couple of cities offer less expensive return airfare, many destinations are extremely pricey, regardless of how far in advance you book. With that in mind, if you're able to depart from Seattle rather than Vancouver, you'll be able to save up to 50% off the Vancouver price.
YVR Deals notes that the Star Alliance group has dropped prices on a number of flights from Seattle to a litany of places across Europe as well as northern Africa.
For example, the flights below both depart on Monday, Aug. 10 and return Friday, Aug. 21. However, the Vancouver airfare costs a total of $1461 CAD while the Seattle airfare costs $599 USD. Of course, the Seattle flights are in U.S. dollars, but even with the exchange they come out to $789 CAD, which is roughly half the price of the Vancouver flights.

A number of the options also allow you to fly into one city and depart out of a different one for roughly the same price.
Simply do a Google flights search with Seattle as the outbound destination rather than Vancouver to find pricing. There are a number of dates available.
