Travellers planning to avoid the United States for their next warm vacation can find cheap flights from Vancouver to several Mexican cities.
While they won't find deals as cheap as the ones to Los Angeles (these often dip under $150 for one-way trips), several one-way flights cost under $200, and return trips cost under $350 or $400.
Have a look at the cheapest flights you can take from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) this spring.
Puerto Vallarta
One-way flights from YVR to Licenciado Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport (PVR) cost under $200 through third-party suppliers. For instance, a flight departing Vancouver on May 31 costs $198 with BudgetAir (see slide two).
Travellers looking for return trips will find cheaper options by booking tickets together. A flight departing Vancouver on June 7 and returning from Puerto Vallarta on June 14 costs $321.82 directly through Flair Airlines (see slides three and four).
Cabo San Lucas
Direct one-way flights from YVR to Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) also cost under $200 through third-party options. A flight departing Vancouver on June 18 costs $199 through ly.com (see slides five and six) or $219 directly through WestJet.
According to Google Flights, this price is considered "low" for economy or $50 cheaper than usual.
Return trips with WestJet cost roughly double, although travellers preferring to pair a flight to Cabo with a return flight from a different city may want to do that instead. The round-trip option costs slightly more than double an outbound ticket, meaning the cost of the other one-way flight could make it a better option.
A flight departing Vancouver on June 7 and returning from Cabo San Lucas on June 14 costs $446 through ly.com (see slide seven). Both flights are nonstop.
Cancun
Travellers who prefer the sparkling turquoise waters on Mexico's Caribbean side can also find one-way options under $250.
A flight from YVR to Cancun International Airport (CUN) departing on May 28 costs $217 through United Airlines and only includes one stop in Houston for just over an hour (see slide eight).
Return trips start for less than double this price. A flight departing Vancouver on June 11 and returning from Cancun on June 25 costs $401 when booked directly through United Airlines (see slide nine).
Flight prices may change quickly based on seat availability. If you want to secure a price, book the ticket right away (some airlines and travel suppliers allow you to hold seats, although you will need to confirm). Prices shown in this travel deal were available at the time of writing and may not be available when you look for them.
