Hot deal alert: You can fly direct from Vancouver to Tokyo for $453

The last batch of low-cost tickets is available in 2025 to this top destination.

Travellers may still book cheap flights between Vancouver and Tokyo heading into the fall, although summer prices remain elevated.

Japan Airlines' "basic" carrier, Zipair, launched its first Canadian route to Vancouver International Airport (YVR) in March 2024, reducing the cost of direct, nonstop travel to Tokyo Narita International Airport (NRT) by hundreds of dollars.

The airline added additional flights after overwhelming success with its initial ticket sales, increasing its thrice-weekly service to five days over the summer.

However, the popular airline's lowest-priced tickets sold out quickly. At one point, it was possible to fly on a return trip between Vancouver and Tokyo for under $600.

According to the Google Flights price calendar, flights from Vancouver to Tokyo drop in price starting in September and then wrap up in the third week of October. The carrier isn't operating flights beyond this time, although they could add more flights.

A flight departing from Vancouver to Tokyo on Monday, Sept. 1, costs $453 through Kiwi.com or $461 booked directly through Zipair (see slide three).

This price is considered "low" for economy and is roughly $158 cheaper than usual, according to Google Flights (see slide four).

Round-trip flights from Vancouver to Tokyo: YVR to NRT trips

Starting around Sept. 12, round-trip flights from Vancouver to Tokyo drop below $900 on several dates.

For instance, a flight departing Vancouver on Tuesday, Sept. 16, and returning from Tokyo on Tuesday, Sept. 30, costs $859 (see slide five).

This price is considered "low" for economy and is roughly $671 cheaper than usual, according to Google Flights (see slide six).

Flight prices may change quickly based on seat availability. If you want to secure a price, book the ticket right away (some airlines and travel suppliers allow you to hold seats, although you will need to confirm). Prices shown in this travel deal were available at the time of writing and may not be available when you look for them.
