Deal alert: You can fly direct from Vancouver to Montreal for only $166

Flights from Vancouver to Montreal aren't as cheap as last summer but bargain hunters can score cheaper options on select dates.

Two low-cost airlines previously serving the popular route connecting Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL) won't fly on it this season.

Lynx Air shut down its operations on Feb. 25, citing fierce market competition, surging fuel costs, rising operating costs, exchange rates, and increasing airport charges.

The budget airline previously offered the YVR to YUL route starting at just $69 for a one-way direct flight.

Canada's third-largest airline, ultra-low-cost carrier Flair Airlines, sold tickets between YVR and YUL for as little as $59 in 2023. However, it halted service over the winter months due to a change in market requirements caused by weather changes.

While Flair said it would resume service on May 5, no flights from YVR-YUL are available on its website at this time for spring and summer travel.

What airlines sell cheap flights from Vancouver to Montreal?

In December 2023, Porter Airlines announced that it would offer service between YVR and YUL starting April 11. The airline is offering the lowest prices for return trips on the route, with prices starting at $356 when booked with a third-party supplier via Google Flights; the itinerary includes one stop in Toronto (see slide three for the example itinerary).

WestJet offers the best deal on one-way flights between the cities in May and June. Multiple one-way flights from YVR to YUL start for as little as $162 when booked with a third-party supplier via Google Flights (see second slide for an example itinerary at this price). These flights are direct.

Tickets booked directly with WestJet cost slightly higher at $166.

Air Canada's round-trip tickets start at prices over the $400 mark.
