While there are endless destinations to visit over spring break with your family, not all of them are affordable.

Not only is the holiday one of the most popular travel times during the year, but it is also one of the most expensive. Since children are out of school for a couple of weeks, a multitude of families plan to visit hot destinations such as Walt Disney World, Mexico, and New York City. As a result, plane tickets are very expensive at this time of year, as well as accommodation. Luckily, a few B.C. destinations offer fun and affordable alternatives close to home.

Harrison Hot Springs is a great alternative for people visiting from Vancouver because of its proximity to the city as well as its local offerings. While it offers a refreshing change from the hustle and bustle of the city, it is located within an hour-and-a-half drive from the city. What's more, there are a number of things to see and do with the whole family.

Of course, the area is well-known for its world-renowned hot springs pools. The two hot springs are Potash and Sulphur which are 40 degrees C and 62 degrees C respectively. These healing waters offer a rejuvenating experience and are said to bring relief to sufferers of rheumatism and arthritis through the 8 minerals present in the water.

Visitors may also enjoy walking through the tranquil forests, or simply exploring the village. There are also a number of restaurants, shops and a lovely art gallery to enjoy in the village. The Sasquatch Museum, located at the Visitor Centre, is also a hit with children of all ages.

Harrison also offers a number of boating tours, as well as a number of Eco Tours to enjoy with the the whole family. They even offer an exciting Circle Farm Tour where kids can pet animals, explore a 1920's Fraser Valley living history site, visit a pottery studio and much more.
