Victoria Day Long Weekend is also known as May Long Weekend, May Long, and even May Run; it offers the chance to get away as the weather starts to warms up.

"A rose by any other name would smell as sweet."

Actually, in this case, it's a long-weekend. Known colloquially across Canada as "May Two-Four," Victoria Day Long Weekend is also known as May Long Weekend, May Long, and even May Run. But, regardless of what you call it, it offers the perfect chance for residents to get away right when the weather is starting to warm up.

So, make sure you take advantage of the mild weather over the three-day weekend by visiting one of B.C.'s best vacation destinations.

Osoyoos

Osoyoos is a feast for the eyes: surrounded by desert, lined with rolling mountains and filled with beautiful vineyards, it offers an ideal escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. It is roughly a four hour drive away from Vancouver, but offers a range of lovely hotels and world-class wineries. What's more, the town is known for its beautiful beaches and water sports facilities.

Tofino

Tofino offers a rugged landscape with some of the most beautiful beaches in the country. Further, the district offers the best surfing in B.C., as well as beaches that suit varying levels of expertise. There are also a number of luxurious spas in the area, as well as delectable eateries. Galiano Island

Not only is Galiano Island one of the most beautiful places in B.C., but it is also quite close to Vancouver. While it does take a couple hours to get to and includes a ferry ride, it offers a serene escape. From its sandstone formations that create breathtaking, natural galleries to observe the shoreline from, to its lush, ancient forests, it is truly the “gem of the Gulf Islands.” In addition, visitors may enjoy boating, hiking, kayaking, mopeding, festivals and whale watching.

Pemberton

Located just north of Whistler, Pemberton offers the ideal place to enjoy a variety of outdoor activities. For one, Joffre Lakes Provincial Park is located just north of the village, and offers one of the most beautiful hiking trails in the country. Pemberton is also a great place to join a breathtaking horseback riding tour, with options ranging from one-hour to multi-day adventures. The area is also perfect for camping, and there are campgrounds offering accommodation for RVs, campers, and tents.

Gibsons

Gibsons offers beautiful ocean views from its charming hillside town on the Sunshine Coast. There are always a selection of beautiful boats docked in the harbour, as well as fresh seafood for sale. It is also home to Molly’s Reach restaurant, which was the site of CBC’s popular Beachcombers TV series. In addition, the journey is only a 40 minute ride from Horseshoe Bay, which makes it perfect for getting away at the last minute.
