Porter Airlines has announced a new service connecting Vancouver to Montreal that will take off in 2024.

The airline with a raccoon for a mascot will offer a new service from Vancouver to Montreal.

Porter Airlines has added daily, round-trip flights connecting Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL), as well as new routes connecting the Quebec airport with Calgary International Airport (YYC) and Edmonton International Airport (YEG).

The airline has been gradually adding flights to Western Canada this year, starting with its inaugural Vancouver to Toronto flight on Feb. 7. The new route marked the first time in the airline's 16-year history that it provided service outside of Eastern Canada.

After launching its service between YVR and Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ), Porter added a route connecting YVR to the Ottawa International Airport (YOW) in July.

Porter Airlines adds Vancouver to Montreal service

Porter will operate its new Vancouver to Montreal service on its classic 132-seat Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, which has a two-by-two seat configuration with no middle seats. It is the only airline with no middle seats on every flight.

The airline says its new flights will "connect with Halifax, Toronto-Pearson, and Toronto-City through Montréal, complementing non-stop western service from Toronto-Pearson and Ottawa to each market."

Additional connections are also available through Porter’s partnership with Air Transat, including regions in North America, Europe and southern destinations.

Porter will be competing with Canada's largest airlines, Air Canada and WestJet, on the new route. It will also compete with ultra-low-cost carrier Flair Airlines, which recently announced that it will resume service on the route for the summer after quietly shutting it down over the winter.

Not considered a "budget" option, Porter's fares for the Vancouver to Montreal route start at just over $200 for a one-way ticket and are currently available for purchase.

Service features on these routes include complimentary premium snacks, beer and wine served in glassware, and free, fast Wi-Fi for all passengers. PorterReserve fares include "fresh, healthy meals" but they may also be purchased à la carte for passengers travelling in PorterClassic.

Porter plans to launch its new flights on the following dates and times:
