Icelandair, KLM, WestJet, and EasyJet have dropped prices on flights from Vancouver to the Netherlands in 2024.

Flights from Vancouver to Amsterdam continue to sit a few hundred dollars below typical prices.

While they've increased slightly since December 2023, prices on return trips from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) cost up to $1,000 less than typical prices during peak travel times.

Prices for flights from Vancouver to Amsterdam begin to climb around April, coinciding with tulip season in the Netherlands. However, travellers can enjoy the city's romantic canals and bridges, open-minded culture, and rich history year-round.

A couple of one-way tickets from YVR to AMS cost under $300 including all taxes and fees for travel from January through March. However, they do involve a few stops, including an overnight in France (but isn't Paris always a good idea?)

Currently, a couple of January dates, including Jan. 20 and Jan. 29, show the ultra-low-cost flight itinerary, which combines a couple of WestJet segments with one by European low-cost carrier EasyJet. Tickets must be booked separately through third-party supplier Kiwi.com.

Prices are roughly $178 cheaper than the lowest price for a one-way ticket, according to Google Flights.

If you aren't keen on making three stops, some tickets with two of them cost about $100 more via WestJet and KLM.

Round-trip flights from Vancouver to Amsterdam

Unfortunately, one-way tickets from Amsterdam to Vancouver are more expensive than flying in the opposite direction, with prices starting at upwards of $400. You're better off booking a return trip if you only plan on staying in the city but you may want to book the one-way option if you plan on taking a train, a cheap local flight, or another form of transportation from Amsterdam onwards.

If you plan on doing a return trip, Icelandair is offering some of the best deals right now, with trips starting at around $800. You can shave about $20 by booking through a third-party supplier but check their reviews to ensure they are trustworthy. Travel agents have designated airline phone numbers they can call if you are stranded but less reputable suppliers may make it more difficult to get a flight changed with an airline.
