May long weekend: You can fly from Vancouver to 3 U.S. hotspots for a steal

Here are some of the most affordable deals to popular U.S. cities.

Travellers looking for flights from Vancouver to key U.S. cities over May long weekend can still find a few options at a reasonable price.

While the low-cost options typically available to travellers from the Lower Mainland have sold out, travellers can still find options that won't break the bank.

Here are some of the most affordable deals to popular U.S. cities from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) over the long weekend.

Los Angeles

The City of Angels offers some of the most affordable flights from Vancouver virtually any time of the year.

While return tickets typically start for as little as $163 with ultra-low-cost carrier Flair Airlines, prices over the long weekend have climbed up.

The cheapest round-trip options cost around $500 to $600. However, this price range is lower than flights to most cities across the United States over the busy weekend.

For example, a flight departing Vancouver on Friday, May 17 at 9:15 p.m. that arrives on Saturday, May 18 in the morning and returns from L.A. on Monday, May 20 at 10:45 a.m. costs $570 (see slide one).

Las Vegas

Las Vegas, known as the "City of Sin," brings together people from across the globe in the spirit of fun. It's the place where people spend their last days as singletons before a wedding, or simply the place to go when you need to dust off your dancing shoes and unwind.

While it's most widely known as a gambling mecca, Nevada's biggest city is home to a vast array of entertainment and dining options, welcoming some of the world's biggest performers to its stages year-round.

A flight that departs Vancouver on Friday, May 17 at 3 p.m. and returns from Las Vegas on Monday, May 20 at 7:02 a.m. costs $563 (see slide two).

Orlando

If you're a fan of theme parks, this might be your favourite place on earth.

Orlando, Florida is home to the "Most Magical Place on Earth," Walt Disney World, which is Disney's largest amusement park, consisting of four separate "magical theme parks."

But there are several other reasons to visit the "Beautiful City," including expansive parks, a variety of restaurants, neighbourhood shopping options, and much more.

While tickets booked over the May long weekend have climbed close to $1,000 for trips to Miami, locals can fly to Orlando for nearly half that price.

A flight departing Vancouver on Friday, May 17 at 7:40 p.m. that arrives on Saturday, May 18 in the morning and returns from Orlando on Monday, May 20 at 5:32 p.m. costs $670 (see slide three).
