While the Vancouver weather forecast calls for a brief respite from the rain this week, temperatures are cooling off substantially in the Lower Mainland.
If you're looking to escape the gloomy weather this winter, WestJet's discount carrier, Swoop, offers a number of deals down south that won't break the bank.
For example, the flight below departs on Dec. 7 from Abbotsford and flies directly to Puerto Vallarta. The total cost of the direct flight, including all taxes and fees, comes to $158.18 CAD.
Of course, this flight isn't return, but there are a number of return flights available that will keep your airfare well under $400 CAD return. A quick search on Google Flights shows that nearly all return flights from Vancouver to Puerto Vallarta cost closer to $500 CAD return and up. What's more, these flights include at least one stop, if not two.

Since Swoop flies out of Abbotsford, Vancouverites have to make a trip into the Fraser Valley in order to catch their flights. As a result, many locals skip the low-cost option because they don’t want to spend the extra time or money getting to the airport.
