Deal alert: You can fly from Vancouver to Dublin for $397

You don't need the luck of the Irish to score a low-cost ticket from YVR.

Travellers can score cheap tickets for flights from Vancouver to Dublin, Ireland fresh off of St.Patrick's Day. 

Prices to the Emerald Isle are elevated over most of the spring and summer, starting at around $950 round-trip in April and May and between $1,000 and $1,500 from June through August. 

But travellers hoping to explore the stunning Cliffs of Moher can do so for hundreds less if they can hold out until the late summer or early fall. 

A one-way ticket from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) that departs on Tuesday, Oct. 22, and makes two stops en route to Dublin Airport (DUB) - one in Kelowna for just under an hour and a half and another in Calgary for just under two - costs $383 including all taxes and fees (see slide two).

The WestJet flights need to be booked through third-party supplier GoToGate to get the ultra-low-cost ticket. Otherwise, tickets booked directly with WestJet cost slightly higher, at $397. 

One-way tickets with only one stop are available on multiple dates in September and October. For example, a flight that departs YVR on Oct. 8 and makes one stop in Calgary for just over an hour costs $403 when booked through third-party supplier ly.com and $428 directly with WestJet. 

Round-trip flights from Vancouver to Dublin, Ireland

Round-trip flights from Vancouver to Dublin cost under $800 on several dates in September and October. 

A flight departs YVR on Thursday, Oct. 27 and returns from Dublin on Wednesday, Oct. 23 costs $784 including all taxes and fees. The tickets must be booked separately to nab this low-cost offer: the first ticket costs $443 with the third-party supplier BuyMyTrip while the other is booked directly with Air Transat for $341 (see slide three). 

The outbound journey includes a two-hour stop in Toronto before arriving in Dublin the following day, while the return journey includes a six-and-a-half-hour stop in Toronto en route to Vancouver.

The YVR to Toronto Lester B. Pearson International Airport (YYZ) segments are operated by Porter; the Dublin segments are operated by Air Transat (see slides three and four).
