Delta police are investigating an alleged incident at Watershed Park where a woman says she was assaulted by stranger.

It happened around 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct 9 on the Kittson Parkway side of the park, near the water tower and wooden stairs.

According to police, the woman indicated a male jumped out at her and grabbed her. The woman says she forced the male away and then ran away on the trails.

“The male is described as Caucasian, approximately 5’8” tall with patchy gray hair and white facial hair,” said Cris Leykauf, spokesperson for Delta police, in a statement. “At the time of the incident he was wearing khaki pants, sunglasses and a brimmed hat.”

“We wanted to make sure the community was aware that this incident was reported to police, and we ask the public to take precautions, such as walking or running in pairs. Police are actively investigating, and patrols in the area have been increased,” she said.

Police say the woman was not physically injured.

Anyone who may have seen a male matching this description in the area of Watershed Park around that time, or who many have further information about the incident, is asked to contact police at 604-946-4411.
