TransLink has announced that it will be installing a new escalator at Waterfront Station as well as a SkyTrain Assistance Counter at Commerical-Broadway.
Starting Friday, Oct. 11, commuters travelling through Commercial-Broadway Station will have access to transit advice and services via a new SkyTrain Assistance Counter.
The first of its kind on TransLink's network, the SkyTrain Assistance Counter will be staffed by SkyTrain Attendants during all station operating hours. Commuters will be able to use the counter for directions, system maps, brochures, and in-person service.
“Commercial-Broadway serves as a key transfer point for our customers, connecting the Expo Line, Millennium Line, and 99 B-Line,” says TransLink CEO Kevin Desmond.
“The central location of our new counter will ensure customers have easy access to the most up-to-date transit information. Today’s opening is another important step toward improving customer service and comes as we wrap up I Love Transit Week.”
The transit authority notes, however, that the new SkyTrain Assistance Counter, "Is in addition to the Stadium-Chinatown Compass Customer Service Centre, which remains the primary location for Compass enquiries."
Next week, starting Oct. 15, TransLink will install a new descending escalator at Waterfront Station’s Canada Line entrance. The escalator will be installed from Oct. 15 to Oct. 18 to provide better access and improve customer flow.
As a result of the construction, entrance to the station through the staircase will be closed. However, the ascending escalator will be open for customers during all times of operation. The elevator will also be operational during the construction, but with a priority to customers with accessibility challenges.
Customers boarding the Canada Line from Waterfront Station on these days will be directed to the entrance on the southwest corner of Granville Street and West Hastings. Customers transferring from the Expo Line to the Canada Line are encouraged to transfer at Granville Station and board at Vancouver City Centre Station.
TransLink will have staff at the Waterfront Station entrance during all hours of operation to provide directional assistance during construction.
