It was the best of times, it was the worst of times as Burnaby RCMP collected toys for sick kids at Metrotown mall Wednesday.

The detachment collected $2,200 in cash and a good haul of toys for Keian’s Holiday Wish Toy Drive.

Among the cash donations, however, was a fake $50 bill dropped into one of the donation tins.

“If this was you and you’d like to drop off a real donation to replace this ‘cash,’ then feel free to do so at our detachment or community police offices,” quipped the detachment’s Twitter account.

Burnaby Mounties will deliver the toys to B.C. Children’s Hospital next Wednesday.
