You can learn to breakdance at this FREE outdoor screening of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in Vancouver

Heroes in a half-shell...

Heroes in a half-shell... Turtle Power!

Whether you grew up watching the original cartoon or are a recent convert to the crime fighting gang of turtles, this upcoming screening of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014) will bring all your ninja turtle fantasies to life!

The Downtown Vancouver Business Improvement Association is putting a new spin on their Summer Movie Nights series by partnering with Washington DC-based Shaolin Jazz to bring an interactive experience called “Can I Kick It” to their free August 7th outdoor movie screening.

The movie night will feature a pre-show live martial arts demonstration, and a DJ who will be remixing tracks to the Kung Fu action on screen. The film will be scored with an original hip hop soundtrack, by DC’s renowned DJ 2-Tone Jones.

In addition, Shape Shifter Studio & Vancouver Street Dance Association will be on the square to present a free break dancing workshop and special dance performance by B-Boy Savage Rock, Sevi Sev and Jamn' Camrn. B-Boy Savage Rock will teach an open-level style class going over the foundations of breaking, with some variations to challenge more experienced dancers. Beginners are encouraged to come and try. Wear comfortable sneakers, and loose and stretchy clothing.

As always, Summer Movie Nights will also play host to LED light-up swings, a gigantic Jenga set, food trucks and popcorn all hosted from the North Plaza of the Vancouver Art Gallery (šxʷƛ̓ənəq Xwtl’e7énḵ Square).

For all the super fans wondering; yes, there will be pizza on site (Blaze Pizza), as well as the Come Arepa and Shameless Buns food trucks. Prepare to feast like Raphael!
