As May the Fourth took over social media globally, local organizations got in on the fun.
From the province's ImmunizeBC program to forest moon at the Capilano Suspension Bridge to the Vancouver Police Department's forensics team, it seems Star Wars nerds everywhere got a hold of Twitter passwords. And in solidarity we're sharing some of them here:
Can't find the droids you're looking for? If only the Empire had a forensics section like @VancouverPD . Similar to tires and footwear, droids have unique tread patterns. Maybe the Empire is hiring? #ComeToTheDarkSideWeHaveCookies #MayThe4thBeWithYou #VPDForensics pic.twitter.com/JVkz7M86NH— VPD Forensics (@VPDForensics) May 4, 2021

We love May 4th because it’s all the excuse we need to pull out our favourite immunization poster! Plus, it’s hard to find a more reliable source than C-3PO 😉 #MayTheFourthBeWithYou pic.twitter.com/x8awYoponm
For the record, that is an actual PSA from the 1970s.

They might not be able to do the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs but our RapidBus RX-Wing Starfighters can rapidly & safely transport you throughout the galaxy, all the way from Hoth to Haven. #StarWarsDay #MayTheFourthBeWithYou @StarWars ^LA pic.twitter.com/5kRVX1tYoU— TransLink BC | Masks Mandatory (@TransLink) May 4, 2021

It doesn’t matter what side of the force you’re on, we’re all in this together! #Grogu is reminding all Wookiees, Hutts, Ewoks & the entire Star Wars galaxy to only travel for essential reasons. #MayThe4th #StarWarsDay #MayThe4thBeWithYou— BC Ferries | Essential Travel Only. Mask Up. (@BCFerries) May 4, 2021

The provincial NDP even got in on it; we'll let political scientists unpack these images.
For the record, we did check and neither the BC Liberals or Greens had anything up to celebrate such a hallowed occasion.
It wasn't just local organizations, some of the Vancouver Is Awesome staff shared in the sci-fi love.
Victoria's Royal B.C. Museum went big, too.
And we're sharing this just because the idea that light sabers should be used in a football game might just be the idea we've all been waiting for.
To finish things off here's hoping that Disney sees the value in combining these universes.
