On June 11, a wheel came off a vehicle on Marine Way at Byrne Road.

The driver who reported the incident believed the wheel’s lug nuts had been loosened, according to police.

“Thankfully neither the driver nor any other members of the public were injured in this incident,” stated a police press release.

Police got a second report of loosened lug nuts Tuesday.

The vehicle involved in that case had been parked in the 3500 block of Brighton Avenue, according police, and the incident happened between 4:30 p.m. and 5:10 p.m.

Burnaby RCMP hasn’t determined whether the incidents are linked, but they are urging residents to report anyone acting suspiciously around vehicle to police.

“Both of these incidents could have had serious consequences,” Cpl. Daniela Panesar said.
