You might want to consider working rain boots into your New Year's Eve attire.

Environment Canada has updated the Metro Vancouver weather forecast to include a rainfall warning. The warning states that rain, at times heavy, is expected from now through Tuesday evening.

A frontal system moving southwards down the B.C. Coast will give heavy rain to parts of Metro Vancouver tonight and Tuesday. As such, total rainfall amounts of 40 to 60 mm are expected through Tuesday evening, which could cause localized flooding in low-lying areas.

The weather alert also cautions that you should watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.

To report severe weather, send an email to BCstorm@canada.ca or tweet reports using #BCStorm.
