Vancouver police are asking for the public’s help identifying two men suspected of robbing an elderly man.
Investigators believe the two men were in the area of Commercial Drive and North Grandview Highway at around 4 p.m. on April 28 at the same time a 77-year-old man was knocked to the ground and robbed.
“This appears to be a violent and targeted attack on a vulnerable member of our community,” media relations officer Const. Steve Addison said in a news release. “We would like these men to come forward, or for anyone who knows them to contact police, so we can talk about what happened.”
Police believe two men followed the victim into a payday loan store about three blocks north of the Commercial-Broadway SkyTrain station, watching him obtain several hundred dollars in cash. The suspects then allegedly followed him into a grocery store, pretended to shop and then knocked him to the ground after he left.
The suspects ran away with the man’s wallet, cash and identification. He suffered non-life threatening injuries.
“We would like the people responsible for this crime to do the right thing and turn themselves in,” Addison said.
Anyone with information is asked to call investigator at 604-717-2541 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
