Vancouver-born actor Ryan Reynolds has taken notice of a brave fan who harnessed the superhuman power of Deadpool to do the splits.

Tennessee college student Johnny Quinn posted a photo of himself in shoulder-to-toe costume this January, inspired by the character Reynolds’ played on the big screen.

Quinn, also a burn survivor, detailed why he chose not to cover his face with a mask.

“Anyone who has read or watched anything about Deadpool, knows his face and body are pretty messed up. So it’s only natural that I cosplay him,” Quinn said in the caption.

“I wanted to be as authentic as possible, and that was to not wear a mask. It’s so easy to cover up who I am, and to give In to despair,” he continued.

“Deadpool just makes me not care about that stuff and show my true self. This is me, and I’m not ashamed about it.”

The fan also said it would make a dream of his come true if Reynolds saw the photo.

It would make my dream come true if @vancityreynolds got to see this post! I learned to do the splits just for this photo. Deadpool has honestly made me way more confident. Anyone who has read or watched anything about Deadpool, knows his face and body are pretty messed up. So it’s only natural that I cosplay him. I wanted to be authentic as possible, and that was to not wear a mask. It’s so easy to cover up who I am, and to give In to despair. Deadpool just makes me not care about that stuff and show my true self. This is me, and I’m not Ashamed about it. Deadpool is icy clean, and he’s helped my self esteem so much. I’m owning who I am, and cosplaying Deadpool makes it that much easier.

On Monday, Reynolds did just that, praising the fan for his talented display.

“Jadiant, this made my year. Can’t even describe what this post means to me,” Reynolds commented on the Instagram post.

“Also, I can do the splits… but only once a year. And it has to be in the lobby of a hospital,” the famous actor quipped.

A popularized character from the Marvel comic enterprise, Deadpool is known for his twisted sense of humor.

“He’s helped my self-esteem so much. I’m owning who I am, and cosplaying Deadpool makes it that much easier,” Quinn added.

Quinn nearly died in a fire at his home at age four but was saved when his older sister Leah pulled him out of the blaze.

“I can’t believe you’ve seen it. You made it so worth it,” he responded to Reynolds Monday.
