It's likely you'll be seeing around 25% less Aviation Gin tweets from Vancouver's own Ryan Reynolds in the future. The booze company owner (who has a side hustle as an actor) just bought into Mint Mobile, a budget wireless telco that operates in the states.

Mint was launched in 2016, offering what they describe as the "absolute best prices for talk, text and data plans in the USA" with "premium wireless for as little as $15 a month".

They announced Reynolds' investment in a press release.

If you're thinking it's an odd decision that he not only put money into a budget wireless company but also become its spokesperson, you're on the same wavelength that he is.

"It’s a bit unconventional which is why I like it," he said in the release. "Celebrities generally invest in high-end products like skincare brands or delicious gin companies. Yet Mint is making wireless way more affordable at a time when the average American is paying 65 dollars a month. I’m excited to champion a more practical approach to the most essential technology."

We've reached out to Mint Mobile about whether or not they plan to make a move into the Canadian market now that they've got one of our most famous humans alive representing them. We'll update this story when we hear back.
