Online scammers are the topic of a talk thru the Vancouver library.

The Vancouver Public Library is hosting a talk this week that'll explore "a golden era for scammers."

That era, of course, is now.

"Come hear Gabrielle Bluestone, journalist and Emmy-nominated producer of Netflix documentary Fyre, discuss her new book, HYPE, where she examines the con artists, grifters and scammers of the digital age, and explains how we can stop getting played," states the library on their website.

Bluestone, who has also worked for Vice, covers fraud on a regular basis; in HYPE she breaks down some famous recent cases of scammers and cons.

She'll be talking to Sarah Hagi, a culture critic and writer based in Toronto.

It'll be live Thursday, April 22 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

As with other events, it'll be run through Zoom due to the pandemic. Participants can register for free here.
