Vancouver Police are releasing details about the identity of a man fatally stabbed earlier this week in the city's West End neighbourhood.
The victim is 41-year-old Thomus Donaghy of Vancouver.
Donaghy was working at the Overdose Prevention site connected to St. Paul’s Hospital, when he went outside, say police. While outside, Donaghy became involved in a physical altercation with an unidentified male suspect in the area of Comox and Thurlow streets. The suspect then stabbed Donaghy.
The VPD say they received a report of a man having been stabbed via a 9-1-1 call at around 8:30 p.m. Monday. Donaghy was found at the scene and transported to hospital, where he died of his injuries.
Police are now asking any witnesses of the altercation and stabbing to come forward.
“We believe there may be additional witnesses to the altercation who have not yet called police,” says Sergeant Aaron Roed, VPD. “Any information they can provide could be critical to the investigation.”
Additionally, investigators are looking for dashcam footage from any drivers in the area of Comox and Thurlow Streets around the time of the murder.

Donaghy's death is Vancouver's ninth homicide of 2020.
