If you're a trading card collector in Vancouver, you've probably been to Wally's Pro Sports Cards.
Owner Wally Leung has been on the same East Hastings Street block for 30 years (24 at the current location).
Leung is old school - so old school he doesn't even have a store website, but that doesn't seem to affect sales.
The NHL trading card crowd has grown up since the '90s, but they're still collecting, and today's youth make up a big part of his consumer base, as kids are always eager to add to their Magic, Pokémon, and Yu-Gi-Oh! collections.
Although Wally's has virtually no promotion or marketing, the shop has become a fixture in the neighbourhood over the decades.
Business is also booming during the pandemic. "You can thank COVID for the upswing. People are staying home, so they're all taking up a hobby of some kind," explains Leung.
The humble store owner is always eager to chat with customers and hopes to remain here for many years to come.
"I've been here for a long time; I grew up in this area. I love the area and the community and people are really great and that's why I'm here."
