The Bear Pit Hibernators

The environmentally friendly installation Hibernators by Shirley Wiebe at the old Polar bear pit in Stanley Park is almost gone. The empty bear enclosure is a great piece of 60s architecture with bold shapes.
The environmentally friendly installation Hibernators by Shirley Wiebe at the old Polar bear pit in Stanley Park is almost gone. The empty bear enclosure is a great piece of 60s architecture with bold shapes. Looking like it would be a fun set for a horror movie with its abandoned nature. The bio bears have decomposed so much you can't tell what they were.

Here is how they looked in March 2009. Would also be a rad place for a band to shoot a video. Presented June 1, 1962 The other side of the old zoo's bear display.
