Ikea is recalling its LURVIG water dispenser for pets because dogs and cats can get their heads stuck under the dome of the water dispenser and suffocate.
The company has received reports of two incidents where dogs got their heads stuck in the in the dome and died.
Ikea says there have been no reports of pets suffocating in the LURVIG water dispenser in Canada but it sold 7,767 units in the country from October 2017 to July 2018.
"We are deeply saddened by these events and know that pets are important and loved family members for many of our customers," says Petra Axdorff, business area manager at Ikea of Sweden AB in a press release.
Customers are asked to stop using the water dispenser and return it to any Ikea store for a full refund without being required to show a receipt.
The public can also call Ikea customer service at 1-800-661-9807 for a full refund.
