Do you have clothes, accessories, or toys that you don't use anymore?

Vancouver's Downtown Eastside pop-up is accepting all donations on Sunday, December 23. While the store store operates exactly like traditional shop, with departments set up in different tents, and volunteers acting as sales assistants – everything is completely free for the shoppers.

In addition, haircuts are also available for free, along with soup, sandwiches and hot chocolate by Britannia High School and Fairmont Hotel.

"The Street Store provides a safe space for people to choose what they want and need, instead of being given what people think they need," said organizer Christina Wong.

"It's like shopping. When we enter a store, we choose what we like. Nobody runs up to us and says, 'Buy this, here's what you need.'"

This year, the Street Store expects 1,000 shoppers of all ages, hoping to find the clothing, accessories, shoes, bags, personal care items, and toys they need. They note that blankets, toiletries, backpacks, and male outerwear are especially high priority items.

The title sponsor of the Street Store Vancouver this year is TELUS, who will be setting up a mobile health clinic there and supplying socks that were collected through a team member drive across the Lower Mainland.

If you'd like to donate, simply ensure your items are in good condition, with no stains, rips, or holes, and bring them direct to the Street Store this Sunday at 8:30 am.
