While the Lower Mainland enjoyed some warm sunshine this weekend, the Metro Vancouver weather forecast calls for even hotter temperatures this week.
In fact, Environment Canada calls for temperatures to reach as high as 27°C inland by Friday. Staring on Monday, May 6, the forecast calls for a high of 18°C and temperatures as high as 23°C inland. Following this, Tuesday's forecast calls for bright sunshine and a high of 20°C and an inland high of 24°C.
This pattern continues through Wednesday and Thursday, with inland highs reaching 25°C and 26°C respectively. Friday's forecast calls for temperatures to reach a high of 23°C and an inland high of 27°C.
The evenings are expected to be relatively mild, with daily lows of around 10°C to 12°C daily.

On Wednesday, March 20, a jaw-dropping 48 weather records were broken across B.C. What’s more, some areas saw soaring highs of nearly 26°C.
For example, the Agassiz Area broke its old record of 21.7°C set in 1915 with a summery high of 25.8°C. Likewise, the Squamish Area broke its old record of 21°C set in 1999 with a toasty 25.9°C daily high.
Environment Canada has also stated that the presence of a weak El Niño will affect temperatures heading into summer. As such, the department expects that the province will see above average temperatures this summer.
